The Scarlet Women

TV land has been much more monogamous - but far less exciting - without them. Now Mistresses is back for a second series - and happily the love lives of 30-something friends Siobhan, Trudi, Katie and Jessica are more tangled than ever.
'I'M RUBBISH AT SEDUCING MEN'
Sharon Small, 41, plays Trudi Malloy, a 9/11 'widow' who discovered her husband was actually still alive and had been cheating on her with an American woman.
Do you think Mistresses mirrors real life?
I think everyone knows someone who’s been through an affair or has a friend who has. We can all relate to lots of the women’s dilemmas.
If you could have a secret affair with any celebrity, who would you choose?
Julian McMahon from Nip/Tuck. He’s very lovely. I tend to like more obscure blokes – I go for someone who can make me laugh, and who can seduce me by chatting.
Like Trudi, you’ve got two kids. How do you cope with being a working mum?
My youngest was just three months old when I was filming the second series of Mistresses and my partner Dan (an exhibition company product manager) decided to stay at home and look after the children. It’s been brilliant so far. If I had a nanny, I’d feel jealous of her.
Have you always wanted a family?
It wasn't until I was 34 that I realised I wanted full-on commitment and children. I was in a supermarket when I heard a baby crying and all of a sudden I thought: "Shoot - I'd better get cracking."
You’ve been with Dan for five years– have you perfected the art of seduction in true Mistresses style?
I wish I was that sophisticated! I’m rubbish at seduction. I like dancing – that’s a very sexy thing to do. Whether it’s a salsa class or in a club, I enjoy letting my hair down.
