Sharon Small Interview

The Sunday Herald, 23 July 2000

Interview by Catherine Bromley

What was your first job?
Potato picking when I was 14 in Kinghorn, Fife. All I got was £2.50 for the day and I only lasted one day. It was absolutely terrible. I take my hat off to all the people who do the job for an entire season.

What's the best adrenaline rush?
That horrible moment when you blush, when you meet someone you fancy. It rushes your adrenaline like nothing else on earth. It's totally embarrassing, I've always blushed and it's always given me away. I hoped I would have grown out of it by now.

What music would you like played at your funeral?
I'd like to say some classical music but I'd go for It's My Party And I'll Cry If I Want To. I can't remember who sang it but I'd want the original Sixties version.

Who would you like to be stuck in a lift with?
Someone who can fix lifts and doesn't need to breathe, preferably.

EastEnders or Corrie?
EastEnders because it's funny.

When did you last cry?
This morning watching GMTV's Get Up And Give.

Ultimate stress reliever?
Laughing really. I was going to say sex but that makes it sound like I'm stressed already.

Friends or Frasier?
Frasier. The characters are fantastic, so well defined and the execution of farce is so well done.

Best place on earth?
It's got to be home but I don't have one at the moment. I'm looking for a flat, I'll be seeing about 20 properties in North London this week.

Worst place on earth?
Being in limbo.

Who would you like to kick off the planet?
You want me to name names but it changes daily. I don't really feel that strongly about anyone, though.

Who or what would you die for?
My family, my friends and everyone that knows me. Sorry if I've forgotten anyone.
